FREEZE WATCHES HAVE BEEN HOISTED FOR THE GREATER WMASS REGION FOR FRIDAY MORNING… RAIN ENDS AROUND MID-DAY FOLLOWED BY GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS…

Good morning folks, we’ve got rain showers working through the region this morning, and while we can’t rule out a thunder rumble, we’ll likely just see some heavier pockets of rain at times through about mid day.

The steadiest rain has fallen over northwest MA into SVT but some of that will spread east. Still, some folks will end up somewhere around a third of an inch by end of the day (maybe even a little less) and some over an inch, so there’s a pretty wide difference in totals depending where you are.

Temps are in the 60s this morning, and so are dewpoints for many! That will all get swept seaward as the day goes on, and any southerly gusts will veer around to the northwest this afternoon and evening, gusting 15-25mph at times as drier, cooler, Autumn air works into the region.

You want high temps, you got ‘em – right now! Temps will fall later behind the front, so enjoy this mild morning if that’s what floats your boat.

We should at least see some partial sun developing from west to east behind the frontal passage later, and lows will crash into the 30s to near 40º overnight, with some patchy frost possible.

Thursday is COLD with highs in the mid 40s to mid 50s from high elevation to valley locales under sunny skies with a breezy northerly wind.

Any wind dies out Thursday night as high pressure to our northwest pushes overhead and produces an optimized radiational cooling setup, which means clear skies, dry air, and light to calm wind.

This will foster the plummeting of our temperatures down into the upper 20s to mid 30s, with even some mid 20s possible SVT and far northwest MA, which is why we have Freeze Watches hoisted across much of our region for late Thursday night into early Friday morning.

After a very cold start Friday morning, highs will climb back into the upper 50s to low 60s under sunny skies and light wind, with lows in the 35-40º range.

Saturday continues to enjoy the effects of high pressure, with a sunny day expected and highs in the low to mid 60s and lows in the low to mid 40s as some clouds build.

I’ll have to keep an eye on Sunday into Monday as a coastal low further down the eastern seaboard should be forming, but the exact position of our nearby high pressure will either suppress it to our south and make way and give it some room to bob north and potentially affect us with some shower activity, so I will keep you updated on that.

Temps look to rise into the 60s and fall into the 40s in general for this weekend and into next week with sunshine returning by Tuesday.

For now, I don’t see any warm ups or further cool downs beyond that, so the aforementioned temperature range is a reasonable expectation going forward, and I’ll notify you as always if I see anything different on our meteorological horizon.

I hope you have a great day!
