WE AWAKE TO A FINAL FROSTY FRIDAY MORNING UNTIL LATE NEXT WEEK AS THE WARMENING COMMENCES… SUNSHINE PERSISTS THRU TUESDAY, FOLLOWED BY WED. SHOWERS...
YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
Good morning folks, we’ve got another frosty one out there this morning with many folks in the 30s to low 40s.
What’s your temp this morning?
Notably, Cummington, MA dipped to 31º and Royalston, MA in northwestern Worcester County hit the freezing mark.
This early season chill will lift through Tuesday, however, as strong high pressure is building and positioning itself first to our south into the weekend and then to our southeast by early next week.
Because air circulates in a clockwise direction, this will drive southerly, warming flow into the greater WMass region starting today, but then become very noticeable this weekend into early next week.
Highs today will rise into the upper 60s to mid 70s under abundant sunshine with lows in the mid to upper 40s under mostly clear skies.
Sunshine will continue to fill our skies this weekend through next Tuesday with warming high temps reaching the mid 70s to low 80s through that 4-day stretch. Lows will hang in the upper 40s to mid 50s from north to south in our region.
By Tuesday, southerly winds will be picking up and before the cold front arrives, we could see an increased risk for fire spread due to very dry soils, low humidity and stronger wind, so that’s something to remember.
By Tuesday night into Wednesday, a cold front will push east through our region and bring with it an area of showers, some of which may be steadier or heavier overnight into Wednesday morning.
Highs on Wednesday should hang in the low to mid 70s, and then (as of now) it looks like a colder air mass will be ushered in behind this front, which should cause some breezy and potentially windy conditions by later next week, as well as colder temps with at least 60s for highs, and perhaps even cooler along and north of the Route 2 corridor in northern MA ad up into SVT and SWNH.
I will keep you updated the whole way, and I hope you have a great day!
