SNOW IS SLOWLY PUSHING SOUTH TO NORTH INTO THE GREATER WMASS REGION TONIGHT... NORTHERN AREAS MAY END UP WITH LESS BASED ON BUST SCENARIO DISCUSSED THAT INVOLVES DRIER AIR NORTH...
Good evening everybody, and thanks very much who have been donating this weekend to help support my work, I appreciate that very much.
In all honesty, I’m exhausted, fried, and my brain doesn’t feel like working, so I am going to force myself to get some sleep and get up early in the morning and see what it brings in terms of our storm.
I can tell you about one observation I have been seeing, and that is that the phase of the upper low and the surface low (the moment when the upper low stacks on top of the surface and mid-level low centers) has been delayed a bit.
This looks to happen more toward midnight, when I had originally expected it to happen around the time of this writing, so that may cause the track to tug a little more southerly.
This delay may cause snow totals to come down in our northern areas like SVT, SWNH, the Rt. 2 corridor in WMass, more like a 4-8″ result vs. 6-12″.
I am going to leave the rest of the ranges alone and just let it play out at this point, but this phase delay may pull totals down by a couple of inches across the board as less intense banding may work through the region.
I have pasted in the amounts from my 4:30pm report for reference, and wait a minute, uh… yep, I can confirm that I just lost my right pinky finger Toby the cat took it and ran off with it, just fell clean off from all this tappity tappin’!
I guest that’s my signals to quit before the other 9 jump off my hand, and go get some sleep so I can live to type another day!
Have a great night, and sleep well, see you here in the morning, Dave.
AMOUNTS
6-12” for SVT, SWNH, and much of the Pioneer Valley in WMass north of the Pike.
The above amounts include all of Franklin County, western / central Hampshire County, and the northern Berkshires (and probably also for the Housatonic River Valley in southwest Berkshires, like Great Barrington for example).
10-16” for southeastern Berkshire County, easternmost Hampshire County, all of Hampden County, much of northern CT and northern Worcester County.
14-20” in far northeast CT (Tolland and Windham Counties) and southern Worcester County, and I would not be surprised if 2 feet falls in southeastern towns of Worcester County.
