PATCHY BLACK ICE, FREEZING FOG POSSIBLE TONIGHT...

Good evening everybody, I just wanted digitally “stop in” for a spell, and remind you that temps are already in the 20s to low 30s for many of us, and dewpoint temps (the temp at which the air is totally saturated and can’t hold vapor any longer, condensing into fog, frost, or precipitation) are very close to air temps.

We don’t get freezing fog a lot year to year, but tonight with light southerly flow expected, moisture may increase and patchy freezing fog could combine with snow melt from our above-freezing Thursday to produce hazardous travel if/where any fog does form, producing slippery conditions given refreezing of melted snow into ice.

If you see fog forming, especially if you out on the road, please slow things down and just be proceed safely and with awareness, as untreated surfaces could become slippery.

Hopefully the fog doesn’t form, but I am notingat 7:30pm that Orange, MA already has a half mile visibility, so eastern Franklin County and potentially far NW Worcester County up into eastern SWNH would be a first place to be alert within.

Have a great, and safe night… Dave.
