MEMORIAL MONDAY TO END UP THE WARMEST AND BRIGHTEST OF THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND… WARMER INTO MID WEEK…

Good early evening folks, it surely has been a dismal, dreary, humdrum of a doldrum-y day, that is for sure. The drizzle and mist just keeps on coming, and I expect that as our low temps settle down into the 40s overnight, this level of dampness will persist along with some patchy fog and a few isolated light showers.

By early tomorrow morning, the final batch of rainfall will set up as a southwest-to-northeast (i.e. “positively”) oriented rain and shower shield. This means that as it “leans forward” along its northern flank, areas like SVT and far northwest MA (the northern Berkshires, western Franklin County) will see rain resume first, probably between 4-7am.

As this lines pushes east, the more southern and eastern areas of our region, including the Pioneer Valley of WMass, will see rain become steadier (and at times, heavier) between 7am and Noon, with this whole wet morass sweeping east by early afternoon.

I must say that even with today’s rain, which hasn’t been a lot, I’m noticing that it appears as if rainwater is not draining as well as it uses to, so even smaller rain events cause ponding on roadways.

Given this, we could see some heavier elements move through tomorrow, so be on the lookout for larger puddles and isolated areas of urban/street flooding by mid to late Monday morning.

After the noon hour, we should see starting to brighten pretty quickly with increasing humidity, and some partial sunshine developing, which should provide the end of the weekend with a humid feel as well as warmer highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s – some 20 degrees warmer than today!

Beyond that, even warmer conditions develop for Tuesday into Wednesday before another late-week cool down, but I will update you on all those details in the morning.

Have a great night!
