severe storm threat waning
SEVERE STORM THREAT WANING AS STRONGEST ENERGY COLLAPSES SOUTH OF THE PIKE... NORTHWEST CT INTO FAR SOUTHERN BERKSHIRES MAY GET HIT BY THE LONE SEVERE CELL AFTER 8PM...
Good afternoon folks, a Severe thunderstorm cluster with a history of wind damage and now a Tornado Warning attached to it is tracking east-southeast towards far southern Berkshire County down into Litchfield County in northwest CT at 6:30pm.
Given the cooler temps that developed after the first round of rainfall, the severe threat is waning quickly along and north of the Pike.
A weak thunderstorm is moving thru the Great Barrington area at 6:30pm, with a Catskill cluster that is tornado-warned with a history of wind damage could still produce some localized wind damage or larger hail from about Great Barrington south through northwest CT.
Otherwise, the main threat will be for areas of street flooding in any downpours or non-severe storms that move through the greater WMass region this evening, intermittent in intensity, through midnight.
Have a great evening, Dave.
