SCATTERED NIGHT TIME THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED, WITH THE WIDER IMPACT PERIODS OF HEAVY RAINFALL AS THE COLD FRONT COMES THROUGH, MOST NOTABLY 10PM TO 6AM… 1 OR 2 CELLS MAY BE STRONG

Good evening folks, we had enough periods of sunshine today to pump max highs into the 80s with a few low 90s in the Pioneer Valley of WMass down into north-central CT, but temps have backed off as clouds have increased and the sun has begun to look towards setting after another day of Earth-shinin’.

As we head into our evening, I am watching showers developing and tracking east-northeast through NY state, some of which will tag southern VT before midnight tonight.

The main activity that will be impacting us is found over west-central NY where showers, downpours, thunderstorms and even a tornado have formed and are tracking our way.

Now to be clear, the tornado is isolated and it will pull up way back in central NY before it would impact us here, and I expect zero tornadic activity here overnight.

I also expect temps to cool further before the main brunt of activity pushes in after 10pm (and most likely between midnight and 6am).

Around that time, showers will become more numerous as they track east-northeast ahead of the cold front. While a strong to severe thunderstorm wind gust of 40-60mph is possible as the cold front pushes closer towards midnight and into the early-predawn hours of Monday morning, I think this will turn into more of a heavy rain threat for some with some isolated ponding on roadways and lowered visibility.

In addition, nighttime thunder is never fun for the pooches, or sleepy persons, so we could have some bright flashes and loud booms overnight.

And just like, the last of it leaves us behind by about 6am or so after lows dip into the 55-60 range, sunshine will develop tomorrow with highs firmly in the 70s!

Have a great night, and I will try to update late regarding any incoming thunderstorm activity, which with the wind shear accompanying the cold front, we should at least see a few storms scattered about, even if they drop to sub-severe.

Have a great night, Dave.
