Weather Nut Update

GEOMAGNETIC STORM CONTINUES WITH CLEAR SKIES TONIGHT... VERY COLD OVERNIGHT...

Good evening everybody, just a quick update to say that we are continuing to see geomagnetic storming during an incoming nighttime period that looks mostly clear.

The readings aren’t as strong as early last evening, but with Kp index of 7 that has been steady most of the day, if you look north away from all twilight periods (basically from 6:30PM onward), and away from lighted areas, you may get some aurora viewing in tonight.

Again, it’s very complex and fickle, these space weather forecasts, but with a “negative Bz” and a Kp Index of 7+, there’s a reasonable chance you could see it tonight.

As for our surface / Earth weather, a giant 1034mb high pressure center will push east-northeast and off of the Mid-Atlantic coastline overnight, resulting in calm to light wind, clear skies, and dry conditions, which will max out radiational cooling and result in lows plummeting into the single digits above and below zero.

Have a great night!
