STRONG TO SEVERE GEOMAGNETIC STORM IS NOW ACTIVE MONDAY EVENING... ISOLATED SNOW SHOWERS BETWEEN 7-11PM... BEST AURORA VIEWING LATER PRE-DAWN HOURS, BUT PEEK ON OCCASION THIS EVE

Good evening everybody, I just wanted to let you know that we have a severe geomagnetic storm underway with Kp Index of 8.33, which can produce aurora viewing here in the greater WMass region, and even points south.

Tonight is a good chance to see the Aurora Borealis, but we do have a cold front swinging through the region with some areas of cloudiness and widely scattered snow showers before midnight.

It’ll be quite cold tonight with lows bottom out into the single digits to low teens behind the front and wish fresh snow pack.

Despite the chill, I would suggest keeping tabs on sky cover before bed as it’s geo-storming right now, but if we’re lucky enough that it lasts into the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday morning, that would provide the best window for a more clear sky behind the front. Hope you see it!
