BLACK ICE EXPECTED OVERNIGHT, WATCH FOR SLIPPERY SPOTS... MILDER LATE WEEK, SHOWERS FRIDAY NIGHT INTO EARLY SATURDAY MORNING... 65,000 FOLLOWERS AS OF TODAY, THANK YOU!
Good evening everybody, thanks for all of the reports earlier today, and before I move into this evening’s weather blabberings, I want to send out a huge thanks to every single person who continues to join this regional audience in our little southwest corner of New England, now 65,000 strong!
I’ll never forget when I first reached 10,000 followers sometime back in 2014, and now 12 years later I’m still cranking out reports, and many of you from back in those nascent days are still reading them, and so many more that have connected to this page over the past decade-plus… Thank you very much!
As for our weather tonight, the main story is that we’ve got wet surfaces from snowmelt, rain, and mixed precip, and while many of us are above freezing as of about dinner time, we are going to see temps drop below freezing for many overnight.
This will produce slippery conditions on untreated surfaces as refreezing sets up into early Thursday morning with lows in the mid 20s to low 30s.
At the same time, the high pressure that is tracking east toward the Mid-Atlantic region that will help produce calm conditions tonight (and a lack of wind which won’t help evaporate standing water, hence black ice concerns) will also be associated with an upper ridge that will spread milder temps into New England late this week and through about mid-day on Sunday.
Tomorrow’s highs will reach the upper 30s to mid 40s under partly to mostly sunny skies, with lows in the mid to upper 20s as more black ice forms late Thursday night.
Then as we move into Friday through Sunday, highs should crest well into the 40s each day, with a dry Fri-DAY, followed by a period of overnight showers Friday night into early Saturday.
Beyond that, a lull on Saturday will beget heavier and steadier rainfall Saturday night into Sunday, with potential now for some mixed precip in the high terrain of northern MA, SVT and SWNH, so I will keep the northern audience folks updated as we get closer.
Again, a blustery Sunday night into Monday follows with some western high terrain lake effect snow showers possible into Monday.
Have a great night, and again thank you to every one of my 65,000 readers! I never take you for granted!! <3
