STORM IMPACTS IN ORDER OF NOTABILITY FOR FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY: WIND, COOL TEMPS, RAIN, SNOW, WHICH PROVIDES SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE... TO COMPLAIN ABOUT! ;-)

Good afternoon everybody, we had some scattered showers and brief downpours in various spots today, while many folks stayed dry and just saw some gorgeous skies with billowing clouds, rain shafts in the distance, and breezy sunshine – a visually beautiful day overall!

For this evening, any showers dissipate and lows will drop into the upper 40s to low 50s under partly cloudy skies.

For Friday, we should actually enjoy a nice morning with partly to mostly sunny skies with clouds building from northwest to southeast between early to mid afternoon or so. High temps will crest into the upper 60s to mid 70s as clouds build into the region.

As far as when first scattered showers arrive, I believe we should see those by late afternoon into the early evening, but they may come in a little earlier, so I will update on timing in the morning.

Again, we have two rounds of showers: one with the “warm” front Friday evening and night, and then after a lull, another around dawn into the mid-day hours, which will bring wind with it.

It’s important to note that the steadier / heavier showers Saturday morning will be relegated mostly to areas east of the I-91 corridor like SWNH, northern and eastern Worcester County and far northeast CT (i.e. Windham County). We’ll see less rain west of the I-91 corridor and down into much of northern CT, with more isolated to widely scattered activity there.

I can’t rule out that the mountains of southern VT may rain (and snow) more heavily due to orographic effects (i.e. mountains make it precipitate harder/more), but this is really a rainmaker in EMass, NH and Maine.

As for snow, again, it’s possible for the high peaks around or above 3000 feet in elevations, but some folks below 3000 feet may see it if it precipitates hard enough Saturday morning, and the best chance for that is SWNH and northern CMass.

The main impact for the largest number of us in the greater WMass region is the northerly wind gusts blowing 25-45mph at times Saturday morning into the early afternoon, as well as the most unseasonably cool high temps in the mid 40s to low 50s, which could set some records for coolest high temps for May 30th.

There’s lots of moving parts, so I will update you first thing in tomorrow morning about our incoming little bowling ball of a storm.

I hope you have a great night!
