PERIODS OF RAINFALL MOVE THROUGH OUR REGION TONIGHT, WITH A FEW DOWNPOURS OR A THUNDERSTORM POSSIBLE, THEN A LULL DURING A GOOD PART OF TUESDAY MORNING… MORE RAIN SOUTH OF PIKE TUE

Good afternoon folks, so far many of us we’ve had about a quarter to half an inch of rainfall during the very-late morning and afternoon, with some a bit less than that. It sure is nice get some stratiform rainfall into the region today! We’ve got more on the way tonight, and for some a second round by Tuesday afternoon, the way it looks now.

As we move into the dinner hour, steady rainfall continues for most of us in the greater WMass region, though the rain shield is breaking up in some areas, with heavier rain in northern CT. We’ll continue to see periods of rainfall overnight, with some heavier downpours possible or even a thunderstorm.

Temps have been cool all day, mainly in the 60s, but hanging in the mid to upper 50s in parts of the Berkshires up into southern VT.

As it looks now, temps aren’t going to budge much, but should fall back into the 50s across the board with some patchy fog is expected overnight.

Some instability will move through overnight which may help to pop some downpours or a couple of non-severe thunderstorms, though a strong one can’t be ruled out in northwest CT.

We’ll see a lull develop for most of us towards dawn and through Tuesday morning, with a secondary wave producing some more showers along and south of the Pike Tuesday afternoon, which may last towards dinner time. Isolated showers are possible north of the Pike tomorrow afternoon with otherwise mostly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s.

I wrote this evening’s report listening to the “Massachusetts” album by Scud Mountain Boys, a band of fabulously talented musicians that was born and bred right here in western Massachusetts back in the early to mid 90s.

The lead guitarist of that band, Bruce Tull, passed away this morning.

He was a super smart, talented, and unique person whose music and wit helped to make western Mass the amazing place to live that it is, and he will be missed by so many of us musicians and music lovers here in the region and beyond.

“It didn’t take much living to see that I was bound to leave the ground… It didn’t take much living to see, that I’m only free when I’m flyin’!”

RIP Bruce Tull, and thanks for the big inspiration. <3
