SHOWERS AND MIST DECREASE OVERNIGHT AS HIGH PRESSURE PUSHES IN FROM THE NORTHEAST… WEDNESDAY IS DRIER, BUT BY AROUND MIDNIGHT, HEAVIER RAIN TRACKS SOUTHEAST BACK INTO WMASS REGION

Good afternoon folks, we’ve generally received anywhere from half an inch of rainfall up to 2”+ in parts of the greater WMass region from today’s rainfall, which is welcome soaking for most, and there’s more on the way by late tomorrow night into Thursday before we bust out into some much drier and sunnier weather by Friday and especially over the Labor Day holiday weekend.

For this early evening, while a few heavier showers are developing over northwest CT and while thunder can’t be ruled out there, most of us will be seeing showers decrease with time, become lighter, and areas of drizzle or mist will slowly wind down as well, especially east of the I-91 corridor closer to higher pressure.

Lows will dip into the mid to upper 50s with just a few spot lighter showers or some scattered drizzle patches, as well as patchy fog late tonight.

High pressure presses in from the northeast into Wednesday which will keep us mostly dry during the day, but mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s.

Clouds will thicken in the evening, and then I will be watching a warm front extend towards our region from the west, kicking high pressure back east, and introducing heavy rainfall back into our region either side of midnight.

Street flooding and localized flash flooding will be possible, and overnight thunder with the introduction of warmer air overnight will also be possible.

This wet weather continues into Thursday, and right now it looks like the heaviest rainfall will be along and south of the Pike, but I will update in the morning.

The bottom line is that after this final round of rainfall with some thunderstorms late Wednesday night into Thursday, we’ll be drying out into Friday and Labor Day Weekend, so that timing is very good for our last official summah weekend!

Have a great evening, Dave.
