WIND ADVISORIES ARE UP FOR THE BERKSHIRES, WESTERN HILLTOWNS, AND NORTHERN CMASS FOR SATURDAY WITH WESTERLIES GUSTING 30-50MPH AT TIMES... WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES UP FOR SVT...
Good afternoon everybody, we’ve been seeing a lot of precipitation overhead this mid to late afternoon evaporating into very surface air as it’s fallen, which is a process called “virga”.
While we’ve seen some late afternoon flurries or light snow showers in the Berkshires up into SVT, most of the rest of us our dry with a wide spread between the air temps and dewpoint temps.
Any accumulation that’s coming overnight into Saturday is relegated to A) the colder part of the 24 hour cycle (tonight into Saturday morning) and B) when relative humidity is going to rise a bunch as temps cool which is between 10pm and 2am when a slug of snow showers will work into the region.
Again, aside from valley coatings scattered about, it’s the Berkshires, western hills, SVT, SWNH, northern CMass, and the eastern Franklin highlands that could see a coating to an inch or two overnight, with 2-6″ in the southern Green Mountains as most snow showers dissipate while upslope snow showers linger into Saturday morning over the tall peaks of SVT down into perhaps northeastern Berkshire County and far western Franklin County before dissipating there by mid-day or so.
As this Clipper whips through the region, westerly winds pick up in its wake by later Saturday morning and into the afternoon with gusts of 30-50mph at times, which is why Wind Advisories have been hoisted for the high terrain of WMass west of I-91 and northern Worcester County.
Have a great night, and tomorrow morning’s report will detail the weekend and what we can expect for late Sunday night into Monday night which is when our next storm system impacts the region with more wind, and heavy rain.
Enjoy your evening, and tell the folks you love that you love them.
