PERIODS OF SHOWERS WITH SOME THUNDER FOR A COUPLE TOWNS OVERNIGHT… ISOLATED SHOWER/STORMS FRIDAY AFTERNOON, MANY STAY DRY… WEEKEND LOOKING MOSTLY GOOD WITH A SHOWER POSSIBLE SAT...
Good afternoon folks, we had a few stray early-day showers this late morning into afternoon, but the main area of showers should arrive tonight, mostly after 8pm (though a few are possible before 8pm in the Berkshires and SVT). In fact we may get some thunder booming through here as well, though no severe weather is expected.
As our warm front approaches the region from the west, light southerly wind will develop and lows tonight will dip into the 55-60º range as showers move in more prominently either side of midnight and last into the early Friday morning timeframe. Again, don’t be surprised if you hear some thunder in the pre-dawn hours!
This activity abates by mid-morning tomorrow and we’ll get a lull in the action, and for many, there won’t be any more action Friday afternoon. However, for some, we’ll see some isolated showers and thunderstorms and one or two may become strong to severe, most likely north of the Pike in WMass or CMass.
The wind shear will be fairly robust associated with the incoming cold front, and so we could see some isolated localized strong to possibly damaging wind gusts. Highs Friday will reach the mid 70s to low 80s with lows in the upper 50s to mid 60s.
While some guidance is indicating showers further north into CT and southern parts of MA, I think that the energy stays further south, and while I can’t rule out an isolated shower or two south of the Pike Saturday morning, I think we end up drying more on that day with highs in the 70s followed by highs in the low to mid 80s on Sunday under sunny skies.
Heat and humidity are trending for next week, but at the moment no big heat waves are in sight – think 85-90º days roughly, with potential for more low 90s late next week.
The only showery timeframe looks like the middle of next week when a warm front tries to swing through, but given that we’ll see our upper ridge axis southwest of us, that many encourage some showers develop atop the ridge into New England, so I will keep you updated as we get closer to that timeframe.
Thanks for reading, and have a great night!
