Weather Nut Update
January 10, 2026

RAIN AND FREEZING RAIN ON THE WAY... RAIN FOR MOST OF US, FREEZING RAIN FOR ELEVATED AND FAR NORTHERN AREAS ALONG AND NORTH OF THE MA/VT-NH BORDER, SOME SLEET POSSIBLE EARLY...
Good evening everybody, just a quick update to say that our rainfall is pushing northeast and into the region as I type and will last through about midnight before it breaks up into more scattered showers of rain or freezing rain during the pre-dawn hours of Sunday morning.
Temps are a bit milder than originally expected, so the most likely areas to see freezing rain that causes a wider-spread areas of slippery surfaces would be northeast Berkshire County, western Hampshire and western Franklin Counties, eastern Bennington and western Windham Counties, the highest eastern Franklin County hills and far northern CMass near the NH border, along with eastern and northern Cheshire County NH.
That’s not to say some icing is still possible in all of the Berkshires, western Hampden County, and all of SVT/SWNH, but the more substantial ice accretions should form in those areas in the preceding paragraph. Lows will dip into the low to mid 30s overnight.
Once we get into the pre-dawn hours, precip becomes more showery and we’ll see one more mild day on Sunday with highs in the mid 30s to low 40s before a cold front moves through towards sunset, which will introduce colder air, wind, and a chance for some scattered snow showers or a snow squall band during Sunday night, with wind continuing into Monday morning.
Have a great night, and I will update again tomorrow morning. In the meantime, please post any reports of rain or mixed precipitation below if you can, thank you, Dave.
