INTERMITTENT RAIN SHOWERS TONIGHT, WITH SOME SNOW OR MIX IN THE SOUTHERN GREENS AND HIGH PEAKS OF NE BERKSHIRE COUNTY AND WESTERN FRANKLIN COUNTY... MORE SNOW SHOWERS POSSIBLE SAT.
Good evening everybody, just a quick post to say that we’ve had a mild day today, which has allowed for some rain showers to form, though most of us are still under a tenth of an inch in terms of observations around the region.
We’ll see some more generally light showers overnight, though some could pick up in intensity a bit around or after midnight, and temps will also drop into the upper 20s to low 30s in the high peaks of northwest MA and SVT, where a coating to an inch or so of wet snow is possible.
Otherwise, lows will drop into the 30s above freezing with rain showers for most of us.
Temps will climb in the morning, and should reach the mid 30s to low 40s before starting to fall around mid day as the cold front comes through, draped southward off of a low pressure system that will swing through northern New England on Thursday.
Rain and snow will end by mid-morning tomorrow, but additional scattered snow showers or even a snow squall will track west to east in the afternoon as temps drop down into the 20s to low 30s by sunset, with winds ramping up and gusting 25-40mph.
This cold air advection will push temps down into the upper single digits to teens Thursday night, driving wind chills into the -10º to 5º above range by early Friday morning!
In other words, b-b-b-b-b-b-b-bundle up!
Lastly (for this report), another weaker system will be tracking northeast out of the southern Ohio Valley Friday night and should push some snow showers into our region Saturday morning with some light accumulations possible before mixing with or changing to rain.
There’s chatter about a coastal snowstorm Sunday night into Monday, but I’m not buying it right now. I will keep an eye on it, and be in touch by reporting here if I think you should be aware of it.
Have a great night!
