NOT AN APRIL FOOL'S JOKE! FREEZING RAIN POSSIBLE LATE TONIGHT AND AGAIN TOMORROW NIGHT FOR THE HIGH PEAKS IN THE NORTHERN BERKSHIRES, NORTHWEST HILLTOWNS, SVT AND SWNH...

Good afternoon everybody, just a quick afternoon post to share with you that we’ve got another disturbance tracking west to east in northern PA and southern NY headed for the greater WMass region, with showers already developing in spots, primarily south of the Pike at 4:30pm.

Isolated to scattered showers between now and 7-8pm will slowly fill in and develop, followed by more organized areas of showers after about 8pm and through the overnight period.

It won’t be heavy rain the whole time, but we’ll see periods of showers, and temps will COOL down with time, and have already started to in SVT and the Berkshires into the western hilltowns.

It those areas (loosely called “the western high terrain”) where temps may drop into the low 30s overnight, with some rain changing to freezing rain or sleet mix after midnight.

Any icing should be relegated to the higher peaks into the pre-dawn hours of Thursday morning, with a cold rain elsewhere, likely lasting through Thursday morning and tapering off for a time later Thursday afternoon.

However, more showers may move in ahead of a warm front that arrives Friday morning, and that activity looks to push into cold elevated surfaces in the Berkshires, SVT, western hilltowns, and northern CMass into SWNH, where more icing may transpire.

By Friday morning, some areas may see up to a quarter inch of ice accretion, so while Winter is ovah, that doesn’t mean we can’t get Mother Nature to play a little April Fool’s non-joke on us!

Have a great night!
