FINAL ROUND OF LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW THIS EVENING... TRAVEL WILL BECOME MORE SLIPPERY WITH SUNSET... BELOW ZERO WIND CHILL BY MORNING WITH NORTHWEST GUSTS TO 30MPH [4:30PM MONDAY
Good afternoon folks, I’m getting ready to go do a final round of shoveling and clean up, but wanted to poke my head in here to say that our final rounds of light to moderate snow are pushing east through the region now with the passage of our upper low.
Some areas in southern parts of the region like Hampden Coujnty down into parts of northern CT aren’t seeing as much, but some areas north of the Pike are getting moderate accumulating snow at times, and this will wind down from west to east between 7-11pm.
In fact, some heaier snow is swetting up in western Berkshire County into the Taconics of eastern NY and up into southwest VT which are arewas that didn’t get as much snow yesterday as many others did, but like I said, it was a two-day event and I think most of us will land in that 12-20″ zone, with some folks more in pockets of 18-24″ when all is said and done.
Take it easy on road ways tonight and getting around, as there are still old areas of ice that remained from our very cold December, along with refreeze from the January thaw under the snow.
Anyway, I think everything is covered, other than to say that as the upper low passes by, northwest winds will develop and gust 20-30mph at times overnight, which will blow and drift the snow a bit, and also cause wind chills to crash below zero by early Tuesday morning, so bundle up if you’re out bright and early tomorrow morning, or very late tonight.
Lots of fair weather to come Tuesday through Saturday with cold temps, and then another potentially powerful winter storm may be impacting us later next weekend, but I will give that topic a rest for tonight and update you in the morning.
Have a great night!
