Weather Nut Update

A FEW SCATTERED SHOWERS THIS AFTERNOON... ISOLATED THUNDER POSSIBLE IN NORTHERN CT... LOWER HUMIDITY BY FRIDAY AFTERNOON...

Good afternoon folks, just a quick update to say that due to a bit more cloudiness than expected (despite some of the sunny breaks we’ve seen) temps didn’t kick up into a widespread low to mid 80s in the valley. Only a few spots reached the 83-85º for highs, which was the exception and not the norm.

Because of this, the fight between drier mid-level air and more humid surface air is likely to be “won” more by the drier air aloft, without the extra fuel needed to pop a few more storms.

We still have some time left, but that opportunity is waning and it appears more likely that we’ll see some scattered showers without much in the way of thunder, except possibly a storm south of the Pike, more into the northern CT area, if anywhere.

Lows tonight after any activity dissipate will drop into the upper 50s to low 60s with patchy fog possible late.

It’ll warm up once more before we cool down for Saturday and Sunday, with highs reaching the mid 70s to low 80s or so by early to mid Friday afternoon.

However, dewpoint temps will be some 10 degrees less than today, so it’ll be more comfy to end our work week as we enter into what looks like a very nice Labor Day Weekend overall, despite a few showers possible Saturday afternoon.

I will update again tomorrow morning, and I hope you have a great night!
