RAIN, MODERATE TO HEAVY AT TIMES TRANSLATES EAST OF THE BERKSHIRES IN THE WESTERN HILLS, VALLEY, AND EAST OF THE CT RIVER VALLEY, THEN NORTH OF ROUTE 2 LATER THIS EVENING...

Good afternoon folks, we’ve got our final round of rainfall pushing south to north along and east of the CT River Valley in northern CT, WMass, CMass, and points north.

At the same time some heavier showers have formed due to orographic uplift (i.e. mountains forcing air up and over them, creating heavier rain from increased condensation) due to southeast flow, and these are pushing slowly east through the western hilltowns and joining with our final rain plume.

The Berkshires are mostly dry with some scattered showers, some heavier, down in Litchfield County CT.

All of this activity will shift east and north as time goes on this evening, and likely quit by midnight, with areas of drizzle and mist forming overnight. Lows will dip into the 40s.

Onshore flow will continue tomorrow / Friday, and keep a chance for scattered lighter showers in the region with some patchy drizzle, but we won’t see as much rain as we did today, not even close. Highs will only rise into the 50s, with lows in the 40s.

The Saturday through Wednesday timeframe features our second run at early summer conditions in our nascent 2026 warm season with increasing sunshine and temps rising from the 70s on Saturday through to the mid 80s to low 90s by Tuesday and Wednesday with mostly fair weather expected.

Humidity will be increasing on southwest flow for Tuesday and Wednesday, and with the potential for a cold frontal passage later on Wednesday, that heat and high humidity *may* join forces to produce a round of strong to severe thunderstorms later Wednesday afternoon into the early evening.

It is very, very early at this point, but we haven’t seen the potential for t-storms in a while, so I’m just placing it on your radar, as that mid-week period looks like a tamp-down in temps will be likely, and whenever you get higher heat and humidity with a front pushing into our region, t-storms are possible.

Have a great night!
