COLD FRONT SWEEPS THE REGION TOMORROW WITH RAIN, WIND AND HIGH-TERRAIN SNOW... TWO NIGHTS OF AT OR BELOW FREEZING TEMPS EXPECTED... GARDENERS AND FARMERS: YOU HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED...

Good afternoon everybody, the low level cloud deck from off of the ocean has covered the sky for most of us after early sunshine, and with our cold front pressing eastward, clouds should be the rule for the rest of today, tonight and tomorrow.

No rain is expected this afternoon, evening, or even until towards the mid to later pre-dawn hours of Sunday morning when our first scattered showers are expected. Lows tonight will dip into the upper 30s to mid 40s.

As mentioned, a few scattered showers will be possible before dawn, with some more shower activity developing during Sunday morning with temps coming up into the upper 40s to mid 50s before noon.

Rainfall will become steadier during roughly the very late morning to dinner-time timeframe (11am to 7pm from west to east) with about a 5 hour or so period of steadiest precip with the actualy frontal passage.

The current trend is for the secondary low to be a bit slower to develop, which may mean less in the way of a change to snow (not that any big impact has ever been expected with the back side of Sunday afternoon’s frontal passage).

It would be as the afternoon wears on that some highest-terrain areas see the mix or change to snow with a coating to an inch or so for some areas (mainly eastern Berkshires, western hilltowns, SVT).

I will update again in the morning, and hope you have a great night, Dave.

P.S. Tomorrow night’s lows will drop into the upper 20s to low 30s with lows Monday night well into the 20s for many, so anyone with planting, gardening, farming interests should take note.
