SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS AND FLURRIES LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE EARLY EVENING...
Good afternoon folks, while it’s quite dry out there at the Earth’s surface (remember we’re hurtling through the Cosmos at 515,000mph on a breathing life chunk with an atmosphere that’s the comparative thickness of an atom), some snow showers will dot our hills and dales through the early evening as numerous cumulus clouds have bubbled up over NY state into southwest New England.
Earlier when looking up you could clearly see snow falling from the clouds as filaments or wisps below the clouds, but it’s so dry at the surface, that a massive virga operation (MVO, which is not an actual acronym anywhere!) has been underway, causing that snow to evaporate before reaching the ground.
The snow showers are in a sort of pulse mode, so it’s hard with a broken, spotty shield like that to moisten the surface up enough to get it humid enough to allow snow to the gorund, but some of the heavier snow showers are showing up as a observations in eastern NY state.
Seeing any SVT, the Berkshires, western hilltowns, or northwest CT?
