Weather Nut Update

STILL EXPECTING SHOWERS AND STORMS MAINLY 7-11PM THIS EVENING... SOME LATER-DAY SURFACE HEATING EXPECTED WITH SOME SUNNY BREAKS 2-5PM...

Good afternoon folks, I just wanted to give you and early afternoon update to say that while we’ve been mostly cloudy for our Saturday (which has kept temps tamped down into the 70s to low 80s for most of us), there *are* some sunny breaks developing to our west and will track east into the greater WMass region between about 2-5pm.

This is good news for folks who dislike damaging wind gusts and/or larger hail, as we are likely to not see as much instability as we otherwise would have with steady surface heating for much of the day.

While we still have a cold front on the way and fairly strong wind shear moving in with it this evening as moisture builds into the region, this lack of daytime heating will hopefully help reduce the severe weather threat from becoming more of a problem.

I still think there could be some isolated damaging wind gusts with one or two cells becoming strong to severe with hail and/or street flooding possible, but I’m a bit more hopeful for more of a heavy rain with frequent lightning impact vs. the wind and hail impacts.

Regardless, I will keep an eye on things and update when I can this evening, as before then we should just see a few isolated showers at times, and dry much of the rest of the time into the dinner hours.

Have a great rest of your afternoon, Dave.
