Weather Nut Update

PERIODS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN CONTINUE TO TRACK NORTHEAST THROUGH PARTS OF OUR REGION AT MID-DAY, WITH A STRONG THUNDERSTORM INTO NORTH-CENTRAL CT...
Good mid-day to you all, I just wanted to poke my head in here and post an update to our active weather Tuesday as we’ve already seen periods of moderate to at times heavy rain moving through the region.
I am watching an area of partial clearing with patches of sunshine and resultant surface heating on visible satellite (attached) in eastern NY push towards our region, and that should help provide some fuel for thunderstorms and downpours pushing east into the Binghamton area of south-central NY, due west of WMass by about 125 miles.
There are some signals that the heaviest weather may again occur south of the Pike, as typically the warmer, moister air is closer to the NYC metro region.
Still, with this area of surface heating just west of us, we are still on track for at periods of showers, downpours with some thunderstorms mixed in that could produce localized wind damage, street flooding, isolated areas of flash flooding this afternoon and/or evening, with a low chance for a weak tornado (which would be favored to form in far southern Berkshires and western CT, if one did form).
I will keep an eye on radar and post later as much as I can, given that I’m currently trying to have some long-planned personal time away.
More soon, thanks, Dave.
