Good afternoon folks, showers continue to develop and track northeast through parts of= our region, most notably sections of WMass east of the CT River, north-central and northeast CT, as well as CMass, with less coverage north and west of those areas. However, a squall line just ahead of the incoming cold front (which is already in eastern NY) is starting to come together.

Based on what I am seeing, I don’t see a substantial severe weather thunderstorm line forming because we’ve had too much in the way of cloudiness, despite it being super humid out there.

This line isn’t growing super tall with fairly poor lapse rates (that is the decrease in temp with height is not that sharp, so that prevents air from rising quickly, which you tend to need with stronger to severe storms).

Still, there is plenty of moisture, forcing with the front, and good wind shear so I can’t rule out a stronger thunderstorm or two in this line, and it certainly will produce some downpours which are in parts of southwest VT already, and soon to enter the northwest half of Berkshire County after 1:30pm.

This line will continue to develop slowly, and press east through the greater WMass region between 2-6pm, after which activity should lighten and then cease altogether as drier, cooler air works in overnight and through Tuesday.

I will update as needed later, I hope you just had the best lunch evah.
