FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES WITH HEAVY RAIN AT TIMES LATE TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON MAINLY FROM THE PIKE SOUTHWARD… PERIODS OF RAIN NORTH OF THE PIKE AS WELL, BUT MOST IN N.CT

Good evening folks, it was definitely warm and humid today, but not as hot as yesterday. However, it’s the remnant humidity that provides us with a clue as to potential impacts from our next weather maker, which will feature waves of low pressure tracking east along a frontal boundary to our south. These waves will be acting on our humid air mass and produce efficient, heavy rainfall at times, especially along and south of the Pike where instances of flash flooding or urban/street flooding are possible for Monday into Tuesday.

For this evening, we already have some showers working into far northwest CT, and rain may be falling moderately to heavily there in Sharon up into Lakeville CT near the Hotchkiss School area, south of Salisbury.

At the same time, back building downpours with some thunder are setting up over the western Catskills in NY and producing isolated instances of flash flooding there this evening with more overnight.

As our lows dip down into the mid 50s to low 60s overnight, rainfall will be spreading east-northeastward into northern CT and up into at least southern parts of WMass and eventually southern CMass (generally areas along and south of the Pike, with some showers north of the Pike as well).

Many of us south of the Route 2 corridor of northern MA (by tomorrow morning) will see periods of showers, with steadier/heavier rainfall in northern CT and around the MA/CT border.

By the time we get to Monday afternoon toward dinner time, we should see a bigger surge of steadier and heavier rainfall push into much of the greater WMass region, with the least amount of rain up in SVT and SWNH from this system and setup.

Rain could fall heavily at times Monday night into the mid-day hours of Tuesday, and before all is said and done, areas south of the Pike could see anywhere from 2-5” of rainfall and I can’t rule out parts of northern CT from seeing 5-7” of rainfall if some embedded thunderstorms get into this super moist mix.

I will post a full update in the morning, but rain is on the way, especially for southern areas of WMass, CMass and the entire state of CT, with flash flooding and street flooding possible during Monday and/or Tuesday.

Thanks for reading, and have a great night!
