TURBULENT SUNDAY SKIES SIGNAL INCOMING MONDAY STORMINESS WITH WIND ADVISORIES & FLOOD WATCHES HOISTED FOR MUCH OF THE GREATER WMASS REGION STARTING MONDAY MORNING INTO TUES AM...

Good late-afternoon everybody… there’s a stahm-a-brewin’, ayup, and it ain’t no nor’eastah! It’s actually a springtime-y southerly flow event featuring a Great Lakes Blizzard getting itself all cranked up well west of us, which will in turn vacuum milder, moister air from the southeast U.S. north into and through New England — whoosh!!!

For tonight, we’ll stay rain-free through (and just past) midnight as clouds thicken and lower after we were able to enjoy a turbulently gorgeous mid-level cloud deck on our Sunday, indicative of our incoming period of atmospheric perturbance.

Lows will dip into the low to mid 30s and as such, after 3am we may see a few brief freezing rain showers in far northwest MA and SVT.

However, even if that occurs, the prodigious level of southerly, mild, moist air being siphoned northward will run any icing threat out of the building with great vigor.

Between 3am-6am showers will arrive into our region, and then a heavier batch of rainfall will push in after 6am, and fall in varying intensity 6am through noon, so the morning commute will likely be slowed in spots.

Southerly gusts up to 30mph or so are possible into the mid-day, and after noon, we should showers become more scattered in coverage.

Highs are going to rise into the mid 50s to low 60s and likely stay up through the night, which will help mix stronger wind gusts down sometime by or after 6pm.

It’s the 6pm to 2am period which will feature the strongest wind and heaviest rain, with gusts of 35-55mph possible (and up to 60mph or so if stays milder than expected), along with 1-3″ of rainfall, so some minor flooding is possible.

By dawn, the whole thing kicks northeast and out of here as temps come DOWN during Tuesday, while westerly gusts pick UP, blowing 25-40mph at times with some lake effect snow showers potentially kissing the Litchfields, Taconics, Berkshires, western hilltowns, and SVT.

Have a great evening, and I will update again in the morning!
