HEAT RECORDS WILL LIKELY BE BROKEN AS EXTREME HEAT WATCHES HAVE BEEN EXPANDED AND EXTENDED FROM WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY… WATCHES WILL LIKELY CONVERT TO WARNINGS BY TUESDAY...

Good afternoon folks, during tomorrow morning I will be trotting out the annual heat impact and advisory graphics that the NWS publishes each year that explain how to recognize heat illnesses within yourself or a loved one, friend, colleague or neighbor, as we are going to really heat things up starting on Wednesday.

To start off, the Extreme Heat Watches (which are likely to convert to Warnings by Tuesday) have been A) extended through Saturday, starting on Wednesday, and B) have expanded into all of northern CT, the southern Berkshires, southwest VT and eastern Windham County VT next to the CT River.

The only area not under a Watch is western Windham County VT in the southern Greens and northern Berkshire County, with those areas likely receiving Heat Advisories by sometime on Tuesday for that Wednesday through Saturday timeframe.

All of these Extreme Heat Watches will likely convert to Warnings by tomorrow at some point.

This leads us to the fact that record high temperatures are likely to be experienced in many areas of southern New England, represented by the circled forecast high temps in the attached charts.

Dewpoint temps are likely to climb into the low to mid 70s for part of the upcoming 4-day heat wave, and will contribute to heat indices as hot as 111º, along with the potential for the aforementioned record-high temps.

I will keep you updated, and please remember that tomorrow morning looks like the last refreshing morning we’ll see for a while with lows in the mid 50s to low 60s with tolerable humidity so be sure to get outside and enjoy the nice weather before it bears down on the Pioneer Valley and surrounding areas in our region.

Have a great rest of your day, and thanks for reading, Dave.
