Strong Weather Alert
June 18, 2026
10:15 am
TORNADO WATCHES HAVE BEEN HOISTED FOR THE BERKSHIRES AND SOUTHERN VT UNTIL 3PM TODAY...
Good morning folks, as it stands now our surface is saturated with close to 100% relative humidity as dewpoints push through the 60s. Partial sunshine is developing into eastern NY and tracking towards the WMass region, including southern VT, and just west of that partial clearing is an already-formed line of strong thunderstorms that has already produced one tornado warning and a couple of severe thunderstorm warning, tracking east.
Separate Severe Thunderstorm Watches may be hoisted for parts of the Pioneer Valley of WMass a little later this morning, active for this afternoon.
IMPORTANT DETAILS
–Timeframe for storm impacts is 1-6pm, with greatest chance of a tornado, if one were to form, through 3-4pm
–Areas north of the Pike is where potential stronger impacts could occur closer to the strengthening storm system to our north
–Said storm is producing stronger wind shear that our existing storm line will be tracking and tapping into
–Potential additional instability from surface heating could fuel storms IF that partial sunshine area continue to develop into parts of the greater WMass region for late morning into early to mid afternoon.
I will update again by noon or 1pm, and am monitoring the trends of our incoming weather… more soon… Dave.
