SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IS NOW HOISTED FOR ALL OF WMASS, CMASS AND NORTHERN CT... SOME STORMS MAY CONTAIN LARGER HAIL... THIS IS A TEST POST...
Good morning everybody, this is a test post for a 2026 Severe Thunderstorm outbreak that will no doubt happen by sometime in the Spring. I will probably use this post type for the first widespread Severe Thunderstorm Watch that gets posted for the greater WMass region in the Spring of 2026.
It will be used to get the word out to users/readers, and also will be used to describe the severe weather set up in terms of incoming cold fronts and steep lapse rates (i.e. a faster decrease in temperature from surface to sky creates buoyancy in the air, allowing it to rise and condense fast producing powerful thunderstorms when other conditions are present).
If we have a strong surge of deep moisture from the Bahamas driven north up the eastern seaboard by high pressure out over the western Atlantic Ocean, that can help set up severe weather days as well.
