Severe Weather Alert

*NEW* SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR THE BERKSHIRES AS BOW ECHO TRACKS EAST-SOUTHEAST OUT OF NEW YORK AT 5:00PM...
Good afternoon everybody, this is that weakening area of showers, downpours and thunderstorms I had mentioned would likely be coming through after 5pm in this morning’s report.
Obviously we had another severe cell in eastern Hampshire County which dropped larger hail, uprooted some trees, and caused street flooding with strong gusty winds and other areas of localized damage.
This cluster of storms has held together somewhat since moving out of Canada this morning and afternoon, and is now pushing into southwestern New England as we approach dinner time.
You can see the curve that is bulging southeastward in the redder part of the radar image, which is the heavier weather.
This usually means strong gusty winds are associated with this cell, and there has been some wind damage upstream, so the Berkshires need to be on alert, as well as the western hilltowns and valley to the east.
If you get under this cell, and it’s safe to do so, let me know what passed you by.
