BREEZY AND MILD TODAY WITH A COLDER SUNDAY WITH LIGHT SNOW ON THE WAY… ARCTIC COLD SUNDAY NIGHT THRU MONDAY NIGHT… SNOW TO MIX/RAIN TUESDAY PM, MILDER END OF WEEK...

Good morning folks, the season is starting to turn with one last legit Arctic shot in the tank of the Winter of 2025-26 which has been very memorable one for the entire region with roughly 50-90 inches of snowfall tallied up, and we’ll put a tiny bit more on top of those totals for our Sunday.

For today, we’re in a mild temperature regime that should spike some of us to 50º or so by mid-afternoon, which will be the first time we’ve felt or seen that in months after this very cold Winter, so that will be welcome.

We’ve got a first cold front coming through later today that may bring a spot shower, but should just keep us mostly cloudy after some early sunshine with highs in the mid 40s to low 50s in the valley, and more like upper 30s to mid 40s in the high terrain.

Our low temps will drop into the low to mid 20s overnight and clouds will continue to thicken as the second and true Arctic front approaches from the northwest for Sunday.

A weak wave of low pressure will ripple through the region Sunday with the front as highs only hang in the upper 20s to mid 30s, and so snow is expected to break out by mid to late morning tomorrow.

It’s a weak little system, but should put down a coating to an inch for most of us, and up to 2” or so in the high terrain.

Snow should end by mid to late afternoon, followed by advection of the REAL cold air as an Arctic high pressure system pushes southeast one last true cold core through New England Monday and positions southeast of us by Tuesday.

Lows Sunday night will crash down to either side of 0º with a light breeze, so expect a very cold start to Monday!

Highs under sunny skies for Monday will only reach the upper teens to mid 20s, followed by very cold lows in the single digits above zero for Monday night.

It’s possible that by early Tuesday morning, that’ll be the coldest we get across the region until next Winter the way it looks now. While March can contain some surprises, that’s how it looks now.

Tuesday will rebound into the 30s for highs, as a storm system presses in from the west, and likely tracks over or north of us.

This mean we should see some initial snow as precip works into old cold air, but then with a high pressure southeast of us pumping in southerly flow, and a storm that isn’t tracking south enough, most of us should change to a mix or plain rain by later Tuesday afternoon into the night.

Some more wintry impacts are possible at the high elevations or well north of the Rt. 2 corridor, but I will update you as we get closer.
After that, Wednesday through Friday looks mild, with highs well into the 40s with sunshine for Wednesday, but the late-week period could hold a chance for more rains showers as we start to slowly eat away that this thick winter snow pack.

Have a great day!
