FAIR WEATHER FOR MUCH OF SUNDAY, A FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE LATE DAY… SHOWERS MOVE IN MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY WITH COOLER TEMPS… MORE SHOWERY PERIODS BY WEDNESDAY MID-DAY INTO THURS.
Good morning folks, we’re waking up to another lovely morning and I think much of today will feature fair weather due to the lingering effects of our departing high pressure system to our east. This will initiate a light southerly flow to bring our temps up today and tomorrow, but I’ll also be watching a cold front dropping south into our region through early week which will keep heat suppressed south while setting up a channel for disturbances to track southeast into our region with showery periods Monday night through Thursday.
For our Sunday, we should enjoy partly sunny skies with highs in the low 70s to low 80s from hills to valley, and while a spot shower or two is possible, those should be mostly relegated to northern CT or far southern towns in WMass tonight, with lows dipping into the mid 50s to low 60s.
For Monday, our back door cold front drops south by evening, but not before we get one more partly to mostly sunny, fair weather day with highs again in the low 70s to low 80s.
Clouds will increase late in the day, and during the overnight period we’ll see periods of showers track northwest to southeast into the greater WMass region, lasting into a good part of Tuesday. Lows will sit down to either side of 60º.
Tuesday should feature periods of showers with highs in the 70s under mostly cloudy skies with more humid conditions with lows either side of 60º once again.
We may see a break in the showery action Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, but I expect additional showery periods to develop, with the potential for thunderstorms in southwest MA and northwest CT which will be closer to the Mid-Atlantic heat dome and associated stronger instability.
At the same time, the upper jet stream will set up over New England so this will drive a couple of more waves of low pressure southeast through our region, producing showers Wednesday afternoon, night and into Thursday as well.
Highs will only reach the upper 60s to upper 70s Wednesday and Thursday with lows near 60º at night.
By Friday, we hopefully will start to the turn the corner out of this upcoming week’s wet weather pattern and into more fair weather for the following weekend.
Friday looks like the transition day between the two regimes, with a few showers possible to end the week, but also with increasingly dry air working into the region as the pattern breaks down.
Highs Friday and Saturday looks to hang in the upper 60s to upper 70s with the hopeful return of fair weather and sunshine by Saturday.
Have a great day!
