A FEW SCATTERED SHOWERS THIS AFTERNOON, MAYBE A SPOT SHOWER SUNDAY, OTHERWISE FAIR WEATHER RULES… AUTUMNAL FEEL SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT… DRY SUNDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY...
Good morning folks, we’ve got a beautiful morning underway and many of us should stay dry today, but clouds will bubble up later as we warm at the surface but cool aloft, creating some afternoon instability and some scattered showers, especially east of the I-91 corridor. After a spot shower Sunday morning, we’re off to the sunny races through the rest of our weekend into mid-week before more showers and even some stronger wind arrives by Thursday.
For today, we’ll enjoy mostly sunny skies in the morning with highs warming into the upper 60s to upper 70s. Meanwhile, temps aloft will be cooling thanks to our Atlantic Canadian upper low that’ll back west a bit toward Maine.
This will help bubble up some clouds and some scattered afternoon showers. The more east and closer to the low, the greater the chance for showers, and a few heavy ones at that. I can’t rule out a thunderstorm in Worcester County and far northeast CT.
I do think most if not all shower activity stays east of the Berkshires / Litchfields / southern Greens, though a spot shower is possible in those areas.
So, mostly sunny this morning, partly sunny this afternoon, and lows tonight dip into the upper 40s to mid 50s as we cool down with northerly flow.
A Sunday morning spot shower is possible, but the upper low should pull east, and with continued northerly flow, our highs will sit firmly in the 60s tomorrow, with a few low 70s readings in the central and southern Pioneer Valley as sunshine increases into the afternoon.
Radiational cooling sets up Sunday night, with lows in the mid 40s to low 50s, so we’ll get 24 hours of early Autumn feels into the greater WMass region.
Monday through Wednesday looks lovely with high pressure building in from the west, highs in the upper 60s to upper 70s, and lows in the 50s.
I do think Wednesday looks to be more partly sunny as a strong and developing storm system races east into southern Quebec by Wednesday night, pushing clouds in here later Wednesday, and eventually periods of showers, especially north of the Pike into Thursday.
The pressure gradient should steepen into our region, and as a result westerly gusts may blow 25-40mph at times by Thursday as that system and front sweep through, followed by more fair weather for Friday with another cool down into the 60s and low 70s for high temps.
Have a great day!
