PATCHY DENSE FOG THROUGH ABOUT NOON, THEN BULK OF SHOWERS ARRIVE & LAST THROUGH AFTERNOON, ENDING AROUND DINNER TIME. COLD FRONT SWEEPS AND CREATES A COLDER AND BLUSTERY MONDAY...
Good morning folks, and Happy Easter if you’re celebrating. We’ve got a rainy afternoon ahead with a foggy morning for many of us, with some patchy dense fog noted in parts of the region, which will last until late morning at least.
The Nutshell section below (please read that) gives an overview of the next 7 days, but the overall pattern is that the seesaw is coming to an end with a milder day today followed by a fairly strong cold front delivering showers this afternoon, followed by colder temps through Wednesday early morning, gusty northwest winds late tonight into Monday, and a couple of chances for snow showers mainly in the western high terrain of CT, MA and VT west of the I-91 corridor.
This afternoon’s rainfall will be the strong bout of precipitation for at least a week, if not longer, as huge area of high pressure pushes into our region for the middle of the week (kicking the Tuesday Clipper out to sea) and lasting into next weekend.
The Spring pattern continues to establish itself, as the Winter pattern takes what’s likely a final tiny pass through the region tonight through Wednesday morning with some wind, cold, a few snow showers, but nothing that will be overly impactful.
Winter is on the ropes and is going down for the count, but the next few days (especially in the mornings) will provide brief windows in to the season that is fading into the rearview mirror.
Have a great day!

YOUR NUTSHELL:
–Patchy dense fog this morning, will last into late morning towards noon
–A few early showers in SVT gives way to widespread area of showers arriving by late morning into early afternoon
–Can’t rule out a thunder rumble or some heavy showers for some as a cold front approaches
–Highs reach the upper 40s to upper 50s
–Strong inversion likely keeps southerly gusts aloft, but could get breezy towards mid-day ahead of the front
–Showery afternoon lasts until about 4-7pm, then the front sweeps through, with northwest gusts developing overnight
–A few Berkshire snow showers are possible late tonight into early Monday morning
–Lows will drop into the mid 20s to mid 30s with a blustery Monday morning to follow
–Northwest winds gust 20-35ph at times Monday under mostly sunny skies
–Highs Monday in the mid to the upper 30s in the high terrain and 40s in the Pioneer Valley south and east into northern CT and CMass
–Clouds increase at night with a weak Clipper system diving southeast toward New England
–Lows will dip into the mid 20s to low 30s with scattered snow showers moving into the region into early Tuesday morning
–Tuesday a few rain or snow showers in the morning, otherwise drying by afternoon under partly sunny skies with highs similar to Monday
–High pressure moves overhead Tuesday night and drops our lows into the cellah as my Nana used to say, with lows in the upper teens to mid 20s
–That more than likely represents the coldest lows we’ll see until next cold season
–Wednesday through Saturday show improvement in weather conditions, with fair weather and increasing temps
–High pressure gets south of us and drives southerly warming flow during this period
–Highs in the 40s Wednesday (lows upper 20s), then 50s Thursday (lows upper 30s), and then 60s Friday and Saturday (lows 40s) all with fair weather expected
