SCATTERED SHOWERS MOVE THRU THIS MORNING WITH A FEW ISOLATED SHOWERS THIS AFTERNOON, OTHERWISE WE’RE IN A DRYING PHASE, LASTING INTO MID-WEEK… SHOWERS AND WIND GUSTS WEDNESDAY NITE

Good morning everybody, our Atlantic Canadian upper low backed a little more towards Maine overnight, turning a few spot showers Sunday morning into more scattered showers with some heavier rainfall briefly this early morning. These will continue to track south-southeast into northern CT and start to dissipate into mid to late morning with a few isolated showers in the afternoon. Otherwise, we’re drying for the rest of the long weekend and into mid-week.

Highs today / Sunday will be cooler today and only reach the low 60s to low 70s under partly sunny skies on average with chilly lows in the 45-50º range overnight, with the potential for a few low 40s in SVT.

Monday into Tuesday looks to be peak sunshine for the upcoming week as strong high pressure builds in from the west and flattens out our upper flow, which will help to warm us a bit.

Expect full sunshine with highs in the upper 60s to upper 70s and lows in the 50s under mostly clear skies as fair weather sets up before being knocked down by a potent surface low tracking east in southern Canada by mid-week.

On Wednesday, we’ll start to see the influence of that Canadian low center with more partly sunny skies in the morning leading to mostly cloudy conditions by afternoon.

High temps on Wednesday should reach similar levels to Monday and Tuesday, and as clouds thicken at night, we should see a few showers, especially north of the Pike later at night into Thursday morning.

Just how far south the steadier area of showers tracks will have to do with storm track and intensity, so I will update on that as we get closer, because it’s possible some areas like northern CT may avoid rain altogether on Thursday.

Humidity is likely to increase as the northern storm sweeps warmer and muggier air from southwest to northeast into the region before the cold front comes through later Thursday.

This may keep lows in the 60s Thursday night and help highs to climb into the low 70s to low 80s on Thursday with early morning showers followed by clearing later in the day behind the cold frontal passage.

Lows Thursday night will collapse back into the upper 40s to mid 50s with cooler highs in the mid 60s to mid 70s on Friday into Saturday with sunshine redeveloping as a drier air mass works into the region.

Have a great day!
