RAINY SUNDAY MORNING WITH ISOLATED TO SCATTERED DOWNPOURS OR A COUPLE OF STRONGER THUNDERSTORMS BY AFTERNOON… HUMID… SHOWERS WIND DOWN TONIGHT... SUNNIER MON.-THURS...
Good morning folks, we’ve got a wet morning underway as indicated yesterday, and that will continue as rainfall is drawn northward into our region this morning thanks to a stacked surface and upper low pressure center located over the eastern Great Lakes to our west. Circulation goes counterclockwise around northern-hemispheric low centers so with it positioned to our west, that means it is drawing deep moisture from south to north into New England this morning.
After this morning slug of rainfall, which at times may be on the heavier side, we should break into more isolated to scattered clusters of showers, downpours and even thunderstorms by afternoon as our low centers track north, continuing to pull moisture north into our region.
A couple of thunderstorms may become strong to severe and produce strong gusty winds or localized street flooding, and maybe even some hail. Some areas may stay on the drier side as activity should be hit-or-miss.
Highs will hang in the 70s today, and this activity should then wind down by this evening sometime as a cold front pushes from southwest to northeast through our region overnight. Lows will drop into the 50s with patchy fog possible late.
Once we get deeper into Monday, drier air will be filtering into the region, and with high pressure building in behind our departed low center, this should set us up for a multi-day, mostly-dry stretch of weather with plenty of sunshine and seasonably warm temps.
I do think we could see some lingering impact early in the week over the high terrain in the form of afternoon isolated to widely scattered showers which may push through the valley here and there, so Monday and Tuesday may be more partly sunny on average with deeper sunshine by Wednesday into Thursday.
Highs Monday through Thursday will be in the 70s to low 80s with lows in the mid 50s to low 60s during this period.
By late week some more showers are possible as a disturbance pushes east out of the Great Lakes region, but it doesn’t look like a big rain producer at the moment, and hopefully it’ll keep truckin’ east so we can kick off NEXT weekend with some sunshine and warm temps.
Have a great day and don those galoshes this morn!
