PATCHY DENSE FOG AND MORNING RAIN GENERALLY SOUTH OF THE SVT/SWNH-MA STATE LINE MOVES OUT BY LATE MORNING… MORE SNOW AND RAIN SHOWERS BY SUNDAY P.M...
Good morning folks, our southern stream system amplified overnight and pushed precipitation further north to either side of the MA/VT-NH state line, and with some temps dipping to the freezing mark we had some freezing rain form in parts of the high terrain. Some patchy dense fog has also formed, but this gloomy weather activity should be winding down by late morning toward mid-day as drier air works in behind the departing storm system.
Partly to mostly sunny skies will develop by later this afternoon with highs in the 40s, but temps will be falling a bit faster toward sunset and early evening. Cold lows will bottom out in the 20-25º range, and some patchy freezing fog is possible so some more patchy iced areas may form overnight, so be aware if you out late and encounter fog with sub-freezing temperatures.
Sunday should start off dry with some partial sunshine, but an Alberta Clipper low will be diving southeast by afternoon and spread scattered showers of rain, snow and sleet into the greater WMass region, lasting into the first part of Sunday night before carrying through our region.
Highs Sunday will reach the mid 30s to mid 40s, and lows will dip into the upper 20s to low 30s. At night, as the system pulls away to the east, upslope snow showers should form over the central and northern Berkshires up into southwest VT with light snow accumulations of a coating to 3” expected by Monday morning.
That will wind down, and Monday and Tuesday look to feature fair weather with highs in the 40-45º range Monday and 45-50º range on Tuesday under mostly sunny skies Monday through Tuesday morning. After that, clouds increase by Tuesday afternoon as a warm front approaches the region, set to bring us more rainfall by Tuesday night and ending early Wednesday morning.
We’ll be firmly in the warm sector on Wednesday and highs should spike well into the 50s, maybe even near 60º down into the Springfield to Hartford stretch!
That will be short-lived as a cold front swings through Wednesday night into very early Thanskgiving morning with some more showers, leading to a cooler and breezier Thanskgiving Day with highs in the 40s and northwest winds gusting to 25mph at times.
In fact, the lake effect machine likely gets turned on so some areas like the central and southern Berkshires down into northwest CT and the adjacent Taconics may see some lake effect snow showers late in the day, with lows at night dropping into the mid 20s to low 30s across the greater WMass region.
Friday looks blustery and cold with highs in the mid 30s to low 40s under sunny skies, with a colder weekend potentially to follow.
Have a great day, and consider doing something nice for yourself today. We’ve all survived a lot of loss, hard work, and perseverance to to this moment, so treat yourself!
