RIVER FOG BURNS OFF EARLY, FOLLOWED BY MOSTLY BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND… SUNDAY EVENING SHOWERS ARRIVE, RAINY SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY MORNING… MORE DRY/SUNNIER SEASONABLE WEATHER BY TUES.
Good morning folks, our weekend pick has arrived, so get out and enjoy it if you can! Sunny, calm, blue skies, highs in the 70s to low 80s, low humidity, what’s not to love for a later Summer day? Sunday won’t end as nice as Saturday started, but we’ll welcome whatever rainfall we can muster during the Sunday evening through Monday noon timeframe.
For today, high pressure builds in from the northwest, and abundant sunshine will be our result! Highs will reach the low 70s to low 80s with potential for some upper 60s highs in parts of the southern VT mountains, and humidity will be lower and quite comfortable. Lows tonight will dip into the upper 40s to mid 50s.
On Sunday, we’ll start off sunny and see clouds increase by afternoon into the evening as storm system works east out of the Great Lakes, set to pass to our north as it sends both a warm front and a cold front sweeping the greater WMass region Sunday night through Monday morning.
We should end up mostly dry during much of the daylight hours, and Sunday morning into early afternoon should be quite nice with highs in the low 70s to low 80s with low humidity early, which will then creep up later in the afternoon as the warm front approaches.
By sometime in the very late afternoon to sunset timeframe we’ll see first scattered showers works east into the region with the warm front.
Rain showers will then become more numerous overnight and into Monday morning (lows will hang around 60º Sunday night) when the peak of this small system works through our region.
I will say that while the primary low passes north of us, a secondary low may try to form along the front down near the NYC metro region, and that may pull some moisture south, with WMass getting less than areas to our north and south.
Regardless, a third of an inch to three-quarters of an inch of new rainfall by Monday evening seems to be a reasonable range to expect at this point in time.
Rain quits by mid-day on Monday, and we should see some partial sunshine breaking out with highs in the low 70s to low 80s, and lows in the 55-60º range Monday night as we dry out again behind the cold front.
Tuesday and Wednesday look lovely at this point with drier air working into the region, highs in the mid 70s to mid 80s and lows in the mid 50s to low 60s. We could see a lingering spot shower or two Tuesday morning, but we should be mostly dry.
By Wednesday night into Thursday, we may see another frontal boundary approach the region with some more showers and a bit more humid air, but I don’t see any severe weather, washouts, or heatwaves on the horizon, and temperatures should remain seasonable with more sunshine by Friday.
Have a great day!
