SUNNY SATURDAY START BEGETS HIGHER CLOUDS… MUCH OF WMASS EAST AND NORTH STAYS DRY WITH LIGHT SHOWERS IN LITCHFIELD / HARTFORD COUNTIES AND THE SOUTHERN BERKSHIRES...

Good morning everybody, it’s been a cold start for our Saturday, and temps won’t come up all that much in drier northwest flow that’s circulating around our upper level Atlantic Canadian low which continues to influence our region.

This upper low will help suppress rainfall mostly to our southwest such that the majority of the greater WMass region will remain dry tonight into early Sunday morning, but some showers will push into northwest CT and the southern Berkshires by late this afternoon and early evening.

Highs will only reach the upper 40s to mid 50s, so a cool but mostly dry day lies ahead with high clouds building in over western areas after early sunshine.

For this evening, showers may push into western and central Hampden County and as far north into the central Berkshires and western Hampshire County, but it’s mostly far southwest MA into northwest and north-central CT that should see light rainfall at times.

Lows will dip into the mid to upper 30s, and any morning northern CT showers should abate before noon, with highs climbing into the mid to upper 50s under partly sunny skies for most of us, and cloudier skies in northern CT. Sunday night lows dip into the mid to upper 30s.

Monday and Tuesday look milder with highs in the low 50s to low 60s by Monday and mid 50s to mid 60s by Tuesday as high pressure influences our weather. By Tuesday ahead of another mid-week system, winds may pick up and enhance the spread of any ground fires with dry air in place. Lows will dip to the mid 30s to low 40s each night.

By later Wednesday into Thursday, a combination of a cold front and/or a coastal low pressure system may be pushing more substantial rainfall into our region with cooler highs in the 50s expected during that period. Unsettled conditions may continue into the late week and following weekend so I will keep an eye on it and update you here, my iPhone app, my website and other socials.

Have a great day!
