FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR CMASS… PERIODS OF SHOWERS AND LULLS TODAY, TONIGHT AND MONDAY… GUSTY WINDS SIT DOWN, BUT STILL BREEZY AT TIMES… FAIR WEATHER RETURNS TUESDAY THROUGH THURS
Good morning folks, as of this morning we have outages around 2500 in WMass/CMass combined, and about 10,000 still in northern CT. While the worst of the wind is behind us, we’ll still be dealing with periods of rain mixed with dry or drizzly lulls at times. Some folks will be raining pretty hard, others little or none, and it should be like that today, tonight and tomorrow, ending by tomorrow night before we can get some fair weather in here by mid-week… into the details we jump!
For this morning, we should see periods of rainfall, some heavier, generally along and north of the Pike with less rain in southern parts of WMass, CMass and northern CT, where it could lull out for a while.
However, while our storm system will slowly weaken as it slows down its track and tucks into southern NJ today, we’ll still see bands of rainfall pushing in ashore, off the ocean, tracking southeast to northeast as counterclockwise circulation continues to draw moisture in off the Atlantic.
Highs will reach the mid 50s to low 60s with easterly-ish gusts of 20-35mph at times today with occasional gusts to 40mph this morning into mid-day.
Tonight we’ll continue to see periods of showers of varying intensity, again mixed with lulls, with lows in the low to mid 50s.
For our Monday, our stalled NJ storm will continue to weaken and finally eject east-northeast off the coast and pass south of our region through the day with a final around of scattered showers during the day, ending at night. Highs will rise into the mid 50s to low 60s, with lows dropping to either side of 50º.
High pressure will build into our southwest during the heart of the upcoming work week, so by Tuesday any mostly cloudy skies in the morning should convert to partly sunny with highs rising well into the 60s with lows near 50º.
By Wednesday and Thursday sunshine should become more established, and as our high passes south of us, warmer temps will result with highs either side of 70º by Wednesday and WELL into the 70s by Thursday – a couple folks may push 80º in the southern Pioneer Valley!
By Friday, we’ll still have warm temps pushing over 70º, but a cold front should sweep through with a few showers and cooler temps with drier air for next weekend which is looking pretty good at the moment with highs in the 60s… I will update you as we get closer.
Have a great day!
