INCREASING SUNSHINE TODAY, SNOW SHOWERS AFTER MIDNIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING ALONG & NORTH OF ROUTE 2, LESS ACTIVITY TO DRY SOUTH… LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS COATING TO 2” POSSIBLE…
Good morning folks, today will be our weekend pick as morning clouds eventually give way to increasingly sunny skies towards later morning and mid-day. With highs reaching well into the 40s along with a few northwest gusts up to 20mph or so, it’ll be a decent early Spring day, so be sure to get some fresh air today.
Clouds will increase tonight with lows in the low to mid 30s as a warm front approaches the region extending east off of low pressure over the Great Lakes.
This bulk of precipitation with this front will be to our north through central New England where Winter Weather Advisories are up, but for now it appears it will track south enough to produce periods of snow after midnight tonight in SVT, SWNH, and even northern parts of WMass and CMass along/north of Rt. 2.
There’s a low chance it extends as far south as the Pike, but that is less likely. A coating to an inch or two of wet snow is possible, especially SVT.
For Sunday, that morning snow and/or mix winds down and gives way to a lull around mid to late morning with a few isolated rain showers possible as temps come up into the 40s to low 50s for highs.
As another storm develops and passes to our south through Sunday night, that warm front will be pulled south as a cold front, but how fast that happens to change rain Sunday evening to ice/snow overnight before the precip quits is uncertain, so I will have to update you in later reports.
Any snow or rain showers early Monday morning should wind down and then we’ll be drying by Monday afternoon with highs in the mid 30s to low 40s.
Monday night looks cold behind the front with lows in the low to mid 20s, which should be followed by a 3-day fair weather period during Tuesday thru Thursday as high pressure builds into the region.
Highs look to climb well into the 40s with lows in the 20s under partly to mostly sunny skies, so that’s something to look forward to!
More rain and/or snow is possible Thursday night into early Friday, however, as yet another system dives east-southeast in this fast zonal flow pushing systems along the Canadian border into the Great Lakes, and then east-southeastward into New England.
We all get stuck in patterns, even the atmosphere!
Have a great day!
