RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS BY AFTERNOON WITH LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS IN THE NORTHERN BERKSHIRES AND SOUTHWEST VT OVERNIGHT… MILDER/SUNNIER EARLY WEEK...

Good morning folks, we’ve got a changeable day on the way after a very cold start with lows that bottomed out in the upper teens to mid 20s producing some black ice due to standing water that froze overnight.

Our temps will only rise into the upper 30s to mid 40s today. To start off, we’ve got some morning flurries or a few snow showers in northwest CT that will move through, with some of us seeing a partly sunny start, which will be short-lived. Clouds will increase as an Alberta Clipper system dives southeast into our region and produces scattered rain and snow showers this afternoon across the greater WMass region. Some light coatings will be possible later in the day, especially in the high terrain, and after the main energy works through by this evening, some upslope snow showers will add to light accumulations in the Berkshires and southwest VT and possibly even the northwest hilltowns of WMass. A coating to an inch or so should do it, though parts of the southern Greens could see up to 4” of new snow as lows bottom out into the upper 20s to low 30s with a steady light wind overnight.

For Monday and Tuesday, high pressure builds into the region with highs in the 40s and partly to mostly sunny skies, with lows Monday night in the mid to upper 20s as clouds start to increase.

Tuesday looks mostly cloudy in advance of an incoming warm frontal boundary that will push showers into the greater WMass region by late afternoon or early evening, and last through the night into early Wednesday morning. Lows will sit down to either side of 40º.

Behind the front, we’ll spike our temps well into the 50s and some folks may reach the low 60s in the southern CT River Valley!!

That’ll only last for a day, so get out and soak it up warm season people, because another cold front will have its gaze fixed up on our region, moving through the region Wednesday night with more showers into early Thanksgiving morning.

Thanksgiving Day looks mostly dry with decreasing clouds, and highs in the upper 30s to mid 40s as we drop temps by 15-20 degrees from Wednesday, and it’ll be blustery at times, too, with westerly wind gusts of 20-30mph. By evening we may even see some festive Berkshire snow showers with lows in the 20s.

Friday and Saturday look fair but cold with highs only in the 35-40º range, with no bigger storms in sight until early December at this point.

Have a great day!
