MILDER AND BREEZIER TODAY, INCREASED FIRE SPREAD RISKS… EVEN MILDER MONDAY WITH A SPOT SHOWER LATE… WARMTH THEN PEAKS INTO WEDNESDAY WITH SHOWERY PERIODS, THEN COLDER LATE WEEK...

Good morning folks, enjoy your mostly sunny Sunday with milder temps, as we’ve got unsettled conditions coming this week thanks to a frontal boundary that will settle to our north into mid-week before waving through as a cold front with low pressure moving along it late week and pushing another cold front through the region. Temps will seesaw and we’ll see periods of showers, dry times, and a chance of thunder mixed in for good measure.

For today, we’ll be dealing with increasing southwest wind gusts as we warm into the 40s for most of us, to as high as to low 50s in the Pioneer Valley. Gusts will peak into the 20-30mph range, and that will be enough to help spread or initiate brush fires today, and there were reports of some yesterday already, so mind your butts and burns, people!

All in all, it’ll be dry with sunshine, and milder, followed by lows in the mid 30s overnight with partly cloudy skies.

So the message is this: enjoy it, because even though temps are most definitely coming UP Monday through Wednesday, clouds will be increasing as well, along with the chance for showery activity at times through the week with a stationary front setting up to our north.

For Monday, highs will rise into the low 50s to low 60s under partly sunny skies, which will tend towards mostly cloudy later in the day with a few spot showers possible. Lows will dip into the 40s.

Tuesday and Wednesday will feature much warmer temps with highs in the 60s Tuesday, and the mid 60s to low 70s possibly by Wednesday with areas of scattered showers moving through at times during this period. I also can’t rule out a thunderstorm Tuesday night into Wednesday.

A cold front will come through from north to south on Wednesday night into early Thursday and focus more showers into our region, and then drop temps back into reality for Thursday and Friday, likely settling in the 40s for highs, and near freezing for lows.

At the same time, a low pressure system may be pushing towards our region, which could push more showers back into our region, but with colder temps around, we may see some icy mix late Thursday night into early Friday morning before a second cold front comes through Friday night with even more showers.

There’s plenty of uncertainty at this range, so I will continue to update daily, and at times twice or three times daily when timing of and motion of these elements come into better focus.

Lastly, next weekend looks seasonable temperature-wise, with highs about 45-50º, and with Saturday looking drier than Sunday which may feature another cold front bringing more showers through the region.

Have a great day!
