HIGHER HUMIDITY STICKS AROUND FOR A WHILE… ISOLATED SHOWERS OR DOWNPOURS NOW POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON… HUMID AND, AT TIMES, UNSETTLED PATTERN… MORE ORGANIZED RAINFALL SUNDAY NIGHT

Good morning folks, well for folks in the valley and western hilltowns yesterday who saw half an inch to an inch of rain, that certainly didn’t feel like “isolated showers in the afternoon”. As I try to learn more, I see that humid air masses can surprise to the upside and as a brief upper ridge (high pressures aloft) passes east of us today with an upper trough (lower pressures aloft) moving east towards us, there will be a chance for some isolated to scattered showers this afternoon, though I *do* think with less rain output than yesterday.

In general, humidity will be in the higher range this weekend and it will only be going higher into early this coming week. Can we have a “Muggy Wave”? I don’t see a heat wave coming, but I do see plenty of humidity through next week, which means overall we’re moving into an unsettled pattern.

For today, patchy dense fog burns off, highs rise into the mid 70s to mid 80s, and dewpoints will be in the 60s. We’ll see some isolated to scattered showers and maybe a couple of downpours by this afternoon and evening under partly sunny skies on average. Lows will dip into the 60s.

For Sunday, we should start off dry, but clouds will build during the day as a cold front attached to a storm passing far to our north will be sweeping through sometime on Monday.

After highs reach the mid 70s to mid 80s, what I’m calling a “muggy front” (a warm front, really) will be pushing some scattered showers into the region by afternoon and overnight with a few heavier cells expected. Lows will be in the 60s once again during what should be a wet Sunday overnight period.

Monday is also looking wet with periods of showers, downpours and thunder possible prior to the cold front sweeping through, with highs in the low 70s to low 80s, and lows in the upper 50s to mid 60s as showers take a pause by sometime in the overnight period.

Tuesday may end up being the pick of the week with a brief lull in the activity, but the bottom line is that each day through next week looks warm, humid, and could produce scattered showers or thunderstorms each afternoon.

This is because it appears that we’re about to enter an unstable pattern with storms passing north of us, drawing in more humid air from the south as they do and pushing warm and cold fronts into said muggy air, which usually means warm-season-type shower and t-storm activity at times with highs in the mid 70s to mid 80s, generally.

I will work to clarify the dailies for next week as we get closer.

Have a great day!
