LARGELY DRY AND SUNNIER WEEKEND WITH A FEW SHOWERS SOUTH OF THE PIKE POSSIBLE TODAY, AND A FEW TOMORROW AFTERNOON WITH WARMING TEMPS… WARMTH BUILDS EARLY NEXT WEEK, THEN HEAT WAVE

Good morning folks, I hope you have some enjoyable weekend plans in place to look forward to as our weather should be mostly supportive for outdoor activities despite a few scattered showers being possible along and south of the Pike this afternoon, as well as now Sunday afternoon. Still, most of us should be dry most of the time with warmer temps and partly sunny skies on average.

For today, highs will climb into the upper 70s to mid 80s under partly to mostly sunny skies with humidity starting to build slowly over the weekend prior to next week’s anticipated summer blast.

Lows tonight will dip into the mid 50s to low 60s with patchy fog possible late, which will be followed by a partly to mostly sunny Sunday with highs well into the 80s. We’ll still be under the waning influence of departing upper trough, so a few pop-up afternoon showers are expected, but no thunderstorms are forecast. Lows drop to the mid 50s to low 60s.

By next week, high pressure starts building to our south and an upper ridge will be building into the east-central and eastern U.S.

This will promote rising temps and rising humidity throughout the week, culminating in a heat wave that will last from Wednesday through Friday at least, and possibly extend into Saturday for some of us .

For Monday and Tuesday, highs will generally run in the 85-90º range (perhaps low 80s in SVT) under mostly sunny skies with lows in the low 60s. A period of showers with a warm frontal passage is expected Tuesday night into Wednesday morning (though timing could change, so I will keep you updated).

HIGHLY IMPACTFUL HEAT LATE NEXT WEEK
Once we reach Wednesday, the heat and humidity will soar and bloom into a heat wave with highs Wednesday reaching the upper 80s to mid 90s under sunny skies with dewpoints in the upper 60s to low 70s. This will push heat indices towards 100º, so a Heat Advisory would be needed, but based on what’s now expected for Thursday and Friday with highs well into the 90s and heat indices pushing 106º, I would not be surprised if the NWS doesn’t hoist (i.e. post, or make active) Extreme Heat Warnings for the whole Wed. – Fri. period.

Low temps during this period will sit down to either side of 70º so if you’re air conditioners aren’t in yet, you’ve been warned to get on it.

By Friday into next Saturday a frontal boundary likely approaches and some strong to severe thunderstorms can’t be ruled out, so again, I will keep you updated as we get closer.

I hope you have a great day!

–Patchy fog possible overnight
–Sunday looks a bit warmer with highs well into the 80s with partly sunny skies expected on average. A few afternoon showers possible
–Lows Sunday night dip to the mid 50s to low 60s
–High pressure continues to warm us up with highs Monday and Tuesday in the mid to upper 80s under mostly sunny skies with lows in the low to mid 60s Monday night and mid to upper 60s Tuesday night with humidity increasing
–Scattered showers are expected Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, followed by a warm frontal passage
