GORGEOUS END TO THE WEEKEND LASTS INTO MONDAY… SHOWERS AND POTENTIAL DOWNPOURS ARRIVE TUESDAY AFTERNOON, AND PEAK TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING…SOME INSTABILITY SHOWERS WED.
Good morning folks, the severe weather threat yesterday collapsed to our south which I started to allude to in the afternoon, likely due to temps that cooled in the afternoon leading to more stable conditions at the surface, so while a few thunderstorms came through our region they did not reach strong to severe levels in our region. Going forward, we have more showers and downpours with a few non-severe thunderstorms coming for Tuesday and Wednesday, with lots of fair weather on either side of our mid-week disturbance.
For today, high pressure starts to build in from the Great Lakes, which will continue to help develop mostly sunny skies and dry our air out today / Sunday. Highs should reach the mid to upper 70s with northwest breezes as humidity lowers. Lows drop down to either side of 50º overnight under mostly clear skies.
Monday is another great day, similar to today, with temps about 5 degrees warmer, rising into the upper 70s to low 80s or so under sunny skies. Lows will dip into the mid to upper 50s as clouds increase late at night.
By Tuesday, another storm system passing to our north in our upper trough’s cyclonic flow positioned over far southeast Canada will draw much higher humidity into the greater WMass region, as well as helps a surface low develop and track northeast near the Vermont / Canada border.
This will cause a spike in dewpoint temps, rising into the low 70s in many areas by Tuesday afternoon and night and so we’ll see showers and downpours form and track through our region, with some embedded thunderstorms.
First showers may arrive by mid to late morning Tuesday, but it’s really the afternoon and especially Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning that looks the most rainy/showery at the moment.
Highs Tuesday will reach the mid to upper 70s with lows in the 60s, and on Wednesday highs should be similar with scattered instability showers at times under mostly cloudy skies.
A few showers or a thunderstorm is also expected Wednesday night as the upper low starts to pull away from our region, with lows dipping into the mid to upper 50s.
This will deliver us into a fair weather pattern for Thursday through at least Saturday with plenty of sunshine developing, seasonable highs generally in the upper 70s to mid 80s range, with lows in the mid 50s to low 60s as much drier is pulled through New England in our mid-week storm’s wake.
Have a great day!
