ARCTIC FRONT PASSES THRU TONIGHT WITH A FEW SNOW SHOWERS FOR NORTHERN MA, SVT/SWNH… NORTHWEST WINDS PICK UP MONDAY, THEN RELAX AT NIGHT DROPPING TEMPS INTO SINGLE DIGITS…

Good morning folks, temps are starting off in the 20s and low 30s and with high pressure moving through the region we’ll see partly sunny skies on average today with highs topping out in the low to mid 30s.

Clouds will increase later today as an Arctic cold front swings into the region overnight. Some snow showers are possible in far northern MA up into SVT and SWNH, and while some coatings to an inch are possible, this will be a rather moisture-starved frontal passage.

Lows will drop into the teens, and we’ll see northwest winds picking up and gusting 20-30mph by Monday morning, so you’ll want to bundle up out the door tomorrow morning.

Highs on Monday will be quite cold, only reaching the upper teens to mid 20s under sunny skies with wind chills in the teens, especially early in the day. Wind will weaken at night, and we’ll see radiational cooling develop as temps plummet down into he single digits for most of us, with some below zero readings in SVT and far northwest MA over into SWNH.

By Tuesday, high pressure will be moving through the region, and eventually position to our south and southeast to help produce a southerly flow later in the day and at night.

Highs Tuesday will reach the upper 20s to low 30s, and the milder nose of air as it presses into the region will combine with a weak wave to produce some light snow Tuesday night with a coating to an inch or so possible. Lows will be down in the low 20s.

By Wednesday, another stronger storm will likely be tracking east-northeast into northern New England, keeping us on the warmer side of the storm. This will help push temps up into the mid 30s to low 40s with which will push more snow and rain showers into the region (high terrain stands best chance for snow or rain/snow mix). This looks like a fairly fast-moving system with not a ton of precip, but I will update the detail as we get closer.

Rain and snow will wind down at night with lows in the mid to upper 20s, and a partly sunny day will develop on Thursday with highs well into the 30s and lows in the low to mid 20s.

By late week, cold air should be reinforced by another frontal passage, and another light to perhaps moderate snowstorm will be possible by Friday night into Saturday as temps cool down, so there’s lots to monitor in the weather these days! Fortunately for many, none of these systems look hugely impactful, but the series of them will keep me/us on our toes.

Have a great day!
