A PLEASANT, SEASONABLY COOL WEEKEND HAS ARRIVED… SHOWERS MOVE IN SUNDAY EVENING AND NIGHT WITH WARMING TEMPS NEXT WEEK. A FRONT TO OUR NORTH KEEPS SHOWER CHANCES AROUND FOR MONDAY
Good morning everybody, we’re moving firmly into the reward phase of our post-winter period with that final snowy Tuesday morning well behind us, and warm temperatures and/or plenty of sunshine straight ahead.
We’ll experience more seasonable temps this week with highs well into the 50s both days with a few folks hitting 60º today as sunshine increases.
Northwest winds gusting to 30mph or so early today will tamp down by this evening as high pressure west of us will push east and into New England through the weekend, positioning itself southeast of New England by Monday when warming flow will commence.
Lows tonight under clear skies will drop to the upper 20s to low 30s, and after morning sunshine with highs reaching the 50s Sunday, clouds will begin to build into the region during the afternoon, especially in northern areas.
A warm front will be pushing into central New England by Sunday evening, and that feature should introduce some scattered showers into areas mostly north of the Pike in the greater WMass region Sunday night with lows in the low 40s.
On Monday as that warm floats northeast, warmer temps will work into the region with high well into the 60s for Monday, with some low 70s possible under partly sunny skies.
A second trailing warm frontal boundary will push some scattered showers through the region Monday afternoon or evening, introducing us into a pattern of very mild lows in the 55-60º range for much of the rest of the week! Remember that it snowed this past Tuesday morning!
By Tuesday through Friday highs should rise well into the 70s at least for most of us, with some low or even mid 80s possible.
The fly in the meteorological ointment will be a back door cold front working down from Maine which may push cooler temps into eastern areas like CMass, SWNH and northeast CT. In addition, that front may focus a few more showers in parts of our region, so I will be updating this Tuesday to Friday period as we get closer.
By the time the weekend arrives, a cold front may be working into the Ohio Valley and eastern Great Lakes such that after a warm Saturday we may be dealing with showers by Sunday, and a substantial cool down into early next week, so there’s lots for me to track, and track it for you I will!
Have a great day!
